Patricia Hubka

HUBKA, Mrs. Patricia Anne Hubka (nee Snyder) aged 66 of Byron Center went to be with the Lord Friday, February 3, 2012. Mrs. Hubka was preceded in death by her parents, Murel and Irene Snyder and brother, Vance Snyder. Patricia is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joel; sons, David Hubka, Daniel (Melisa) Hubka; grandchildren, Rachel, Erin, Isaac Hubka; sisters, Virginia (Dan) Baird, Rosemary (Mike) Herweyer; brothers, Ken (Ruth) Snyder, Ron (Kathy) Snyder and Karl (Alice) Snyder. Patricia was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. When you were around her, you knew that you were loved. Her generous spirit and selfless personality drew you into her. She spent much of her childhood dancing (ballet and tap) and later shared that passion with others as an instructor. She enjoyed listening to music, and had a particular foundness for anything sung by her children and grandchildren. Although Patricia and Joel "only" had two sons, their house was always filled with many kids that were treated as if they too were part of the family. This extended "immediate" family included 4 Brazilian exchange students, nephews, nieces, neighbor kids and countless friends of David and Daniel that all spent many hours with "Mom and Pops." On top of taking care of all of us at home, Patricia also spent time working for Associated Truck Lines, JC Penny Catalog center and as an in-home daycare provider. In every aspect of life, her loving personality helped her create many life-long friendships. After she retired, she and Joel spent years enjoying their grandchildren and their date nights at Grand Rapids Griffins hockey games (for such a sweet woman, she sure did enjoy a good hockey fight. 😊 ). She is surely going to be missed by all of us that have been blessed by her presence. We thank God for the precious gift of Patricia Anne (Snyder) Hubka. We know that she is loving the opportunity to dance again. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 3334 Breton Rd. SE with Rev. Cathi Huvaere officiating. Her family will greet relatives and friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S.
