Patricia Jane (Joustra) Haadsma of Rockford, MI, age 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, April 25. She was born May 14,1930 in Grand Rapids to John and Martha Joustra. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Roger, and their four children; Jim and Luanne Haadsma (Croton), Luanne and Larry Dewey (Carmel,IN), Mari and Dan Dawley (Enfield, NH) and Gail Sherry (Garrison, NY). She was a devoted grandmother to Jon and Tiffany Skilling (Indianapolis, IN), David Haadsma (Belmont), Sean Dewey (Indianapolis, IN), Nathaniel and Diana Haadsma (Chicago, IL), Trevor Dewey (St. Louis, MO), Leah and John Robinson (Traverse City, MI) and great grandmother to three, Lola and Hudson Skilling, and Owen Haadsma. Pat is also survived by her sister Donna (John) Antzack of Grand Rapids, brother-in-law Philip DeKorn of Rockford, and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Russell Joustra, brothers- and sisters-in-laws Harriet and Robert Glupker, Marianne DeKorn, Robert and Irmalee Haadsma, and son-in-law Bill Sherry. Pat will be remembered for her zest for life, positive attitude, and deep love and devotion to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great grandmother and friend, always going out of her way to create a memorable day, excursion, or special moment with her personal touches that were loved by all. Pat stayed at home to raise their four children while her husband Roger and his brother Robert ran the family dairy business, Haadma's Dairy. She was known for serving a healthy sit-down breakfast before each school day, keeping house, creating time for fun and laughter, and always making sure the family ate dinner together. Pat always welcomed others into their home - spontaneous invitations were common. She loved to entertain with a homecooked meal and her signature "special touches" that she added to the home and table. Even her picnics were special! After her youngest children went away to college, Pat went back to work and eventually became a business owner. With her and Roger's knowledge and love of antiques, she started Complete Estate Services which she ran for almost 15 years. She was known for her impeccable honesty and devotion to her customers. Pat was thoughtful, generous, and loving with a kind spirit. The positive impact she had on others was immediate and lasting. It's not surprising that her favorite quote was "Enthusiasm is contagious!" No words can ever express how much she will be missed. The family will greet relatives and friends Sunday, April 29 from 3-6 PM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont. The funeral will be held Monday, April 30 at Stegenga's with visitation from 10-10:45 AM and service at 11 AM. Donations can be made to the Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center.
