Remembering Pastor Lou K. Toering

Pastor Lou Toering, age 82, of Wyoming, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 17, 2019. He was preceded in death by close family, Henry and Geneva Toering, Cornie Toering, Sonija DeVries, Edward and Carol VanDam. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Betty; children, Ricky and Evie Toering, Tama and William Fuller, Barbara Toering, and Amy Sikkema; 15 beautiful grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Larry and Annette Toering, Carl and Terry Toering, Al and MaryJo Toering; sister, Kathy and Earl VandenBos; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jo Toering, Neil DeVries, Bernice and Bert Brouwer; many nieces and nephews.  A service of Praise and Thanksgiving will be held on Monday, May 20, at 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor John Paepke officiating.  Interment Winchester Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Sunday from  5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.

Grandpa, I think of you everyday, I miss you more than I can put into words. A piece of my heart will forever be empty without you on this earth you were and always have been my rock and not only the best grandpa but a true meaning of what a father, husband and man should strive to be. I am comforted to know you are no longer in pain and suffering, yet I selfishly miss your smile that could fill a room with joy, your laugh that was so contagious even on the most gloomy of days you would always make me feel like I had a special place in your heart. You made me feel so loved even from a distance, even when we wouldn’t talk for months sometimes you were the best thing in my life and I’ll hold onto our memories until we meet again in heaven. I look up at the sky on the bright yellow sun shining day and smile knowing you are still with me in my heart just now you’re in heaven with our one true king. Thank you all, for your beautiful messages for my dear Father Pastor Lou, I truly cannot quite grasp at this time, what his absence on this earth will be to my Mother, siblings and all those who knew Dad. He lived such a great example of integrity, Jesus loving kind spirit to everyone whom will be greatly missed on this earthly life, but is now at Peace, not suffering, in Glory with God, well done his Faithful servant. Dear Betty and family. I am so sorry for your loss. You are all in my prayers and thoughts. I really enjoyed the time when you, Lou, Barbara and I were at her new house in Godwin. I believe Lou was working on the house. I was there because I liked Barbara so much. I remember hearing Lou preach and then having dinner with you all. I really enjoyed that. Now Tama and I are friends and have fun driving bus together. I love you all and pray that the Lord will comfort you in this time of loss and grieving. Our lives are nothing more than a mist into the wind. Soon we will all be in glory with Jesus and our loved ones. No more pain and no more sorrow. I'll be praying for you all. Tom
