Norwin Steigenga

Norwin James Steigenga, age 92, of Jenison, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Norwin was born May 2, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He served in the Korean War and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years before retiring in 1985. Norwin enjoyed doing body work for his business Steigenga Auto Sales. He was a quiet gentleman who was caring and compassionate toward others. Norwin valued his church, loved his family, and was that person you could always rely on for help. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine (Kooienga); second wife, Lois (Piersma); son, Steve Steigenga; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Schuitema, Jeanne Weiss, Grace and Joel Lowe, Robert Struik, William VanderKodde. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jack Steigenga, Lynda and Todd Moelker; Kim Steigenga; stepchildren, Laurie Piersma, Roberta and Jay Schutte, Amy West, Mark and Marcia Piersma; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; siblings, MaryLou and Joel Nederhoed, Lorraine Schuitema, John and Judy Steigenga; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; Leora VanderKoode, Barbara Struik, William and Char Struik. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. with Rev. Eric Van Der Molen officiating. Burial at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Sunday, May 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Sunset Legacy Foundation (Waterford Place) or Word and Deed Ministries.
