Norma Mary Hoek

Norma Mary Hoek (née Steffes), age 83, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 16, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gerald; her parents, Nick and Laura Steffes; sister and brother-in-law, Norine and Eddie Gratz, sister-in-law, Patricia Steffes; brothers-in-law, Walt Szurna, Ted Zapolnik; nephew, Steve.  Norma will be dearly missed by her children; Debbie (Steve) Thieme, Cathy (Joe) LaVigne, Rick Hoek, Bob (Vicki) Hoek, grandchildren; Nick (Jenn), Ryan (Jess), Chris (Samantha), Jake, Steven, Julie (Ryan); great grandchildren, Sofia, Elivia, Mara, Emma, Claire; brothers, Marvin (Jan) Steffes, Melvin (Maxine) Steffes; sisters, Mary (Dick) Dilly, Armella Zapolnik, Erma Szurna; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Norma was a quiet, unassuming, loving wife, mother and grandmother.   She adored her great grandchildren and always had a “candy drawer” for when the kids came to visit. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Holy Name of Jesus Church. Norma loved her work at Right To Life and enjoyed spending time with her co-workers. She was known for her fudge, chocolate pie, and ground bologna sandwiches when they played setback. She enjoyed going to the casinos and out to eat, especially Big Boy. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 21 at 11:30 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1630 Godfrey Ave. SW, Wyoming, with Fr. Steve Dudek presiding.  Relatives and friends may meet the family from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, with a Vigil Service at 6:30 pm, at the MKD Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, and one hour prior to mass at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.
