Norma DeJong

Norma Jean (Verduin) DeJong, age 88, of Jenison, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Howard. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, William and Carol DeJong, Randall and Joy DeJong, Ross and Sonja DeJong, Laura and Michael Brinks; grandchildren, Melissa and Andy, Stephanie and Jordan, Alexis, Hailey and Joel, Tess and Kevin, Ridge and McKena, Easton, Jessica and Nick, Jacob, Jordyn, Jae’l, Aliyah, Jade, and Jaxen; great-grandchildren, Adaline, Eloise, Lenora, Mara, Henri, Asa; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. Norma was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dearly loved her family. Norma was blessed with a generous heart to always help others. She and her husband Howard lived a life of service for the Lord, volunteering at various organizations over the years. Norma worked as a substitute teacher at Jenison Christian School, crossing guard, and in various other capacities for many years. Above all, her love and commitment to Jesus and her family was evident to all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Joel Altena officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday from 4-7 pm and also on Monday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
