Nicholas Alan VanSolkema

Nicholas “Nick” Alan VanSolkema, age 42, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Nick will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Al and Marcia VanSolkema; sister, Alana and Scott Palmer; brother, Scott VanSolkema; nephew, Jordan; nieces, Taylor, Hayden, and Avalon; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nick loved the game of baseball, especially the Whitecaps, and attending the home opener of the Griffins with his dad and brother. He also enjoyed miniature golf, trips to Northern Michigan, and family vacations. Nick was a great uncle and will be missed by the Palmer kids. He was a valued employee of Schneider Tire and enjoyed his job and seeing his customers. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Mercy Health for their care of Nick, and the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from friends and family. Nick was deeply loved and our memories of him will be cherished and forever in our hearts. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” II Tim. 4:7. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Grace Protestant Reformed Church, 11225 8th Ave, Grand Rapids, 49534 with Prof. Barret Gritters officiating.
