Nelson Arthur Schregardus, age 80, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, infant twins, Timothy Allen and Allen Timothy, and his parents. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Ricky (Kimberly) Schregardus, Kay Carlberg, Michael (Valerie) Schregardus; six grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Judith VerStrate and Janice Schregardus; several nieces and nephews. Nelson honorably served his country in the US Army. A memorial service will be held on Saturday 11:00 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, with Pastor Mark Bergsma officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Reformed Church Youth Group or a charity of one’s choice for U.S. military veterans.
