Nathan McLean

It is with great sadness that the family of Nathan McLean announces his unexpected passing on November 8th, 2019 at the age of 28 years old. Nathan will be lovingly remembered by his parents Bruce and Laurel McLean (Saunders), brothers Mike (Lisa) McLean and Devin (Julia) McLean, nephew Caleb, the love of his life and best friend Haley Hawes, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Nathan was preceded in death by his grandparents Virginia and Archie McLean and Audrey and Bill Saunders. A public visitation in memory of Nathan will take place on Wednesday, November 13th from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm at Stegenga Funeral Chapel located at 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont, MI 49306. Nathan had a lifelong love of comics, science fiction, video games and music, which he eagerly shared with those around him. His endless appetite for pizza was a comically significant part of his persona; rivaled only by his love of family and friends, and his natural ability to make all around him feel safe, secure, and at home. Known for a quick wit, bright smile and a gregarious laugh that could fill a room; he also silently battled depression for many years. His family is hopeful that by bringing light to his struggles, they can help to ultimately end the stigma of mental illness. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking those who wish to give, to donate in memory of Nathan to the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan.
