Nancy Lee Spalenka

Nancy Lee Comstock Spalenka, age 90, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She retired in 1962 after her teaching career that included many elementary schools in western Michigan. She was a member of The Indian Mounds Rock and Mineral Club. She was a volunteer representative for Heifer International since 1984, where she spoke before many groups and churches. Nancy was very involved in the United Methodist Church and helped plan and organize vacation bible school, attended women’s groups, and participated in the church choir for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Rev. Gordon Spalenka. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Peter and Lyn Spalenka, and Joy Martin; grandchildren, Andrew and Lisseth Spalenka, Christina and Matt Nelson, Jonathan Martin, Timothy and Sarah Martin; great-granddaughter, Celeste Spalenka; and great-grandson, Theodore Martin. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Dean Prentiss officiating. The burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Wesley Park United Methodist Church.
