Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Nancy Kay Stolieckas, age 76, passed away suddenly on August 7, 2024, after a brief and aggressive battle with metastatic cancer. Though her illness came on swiftly, Nancy faced it with remarkable courage and strength. She was surrounded by the love and support of her family during her final days.
Nancy graduated from Wyoming High school in 1965 and furthered her education at Grand Rapids Community College where she made a career as a mental health nurse. It was her marked dedication and compassion that allowed her to care for the underprivileged and homeless in her community. Nancy ended her career early to take on the instrumental role of helping to raise two of her grandsons, Noah and Benjamin. Nancy and Vince enjoyed traveling, whether it was a trip to Florida, Mexico or cruising the seas. In past years, Nancy loved spending time on Loon Lake, a place where she grew up and met life long friends.. She looked forward to weekly shopping trips with Holly and manicure/pedicure sessions with Angela. Her happiest times were those spent surrounded by family. Nancy was fun-loving, easy going and was always up for an adventure, the crazier the better. She always wanted to know what was happening in her family's lives and loved to hear stories through the eyes and words of her grandchildren. Perhaps, she will be best known for always giving unconditional love, comfort, and acceptance to all she cared for and loved, without judgment.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Beatrice Felton.
She leaves behind her devoted partner and husband of over 42 years, Vincent Hogan; daughters: Holly (Robert) Vincent, Angela Stolieckas (John Stuyfzand); step-children: Melissa Hogan, Vincent Jr. Hogan (Christiane), and Nicholas Hogan (Cara). Nancy was a very proud grandmother to Gavin, Morgan, Noah, Benjamin, Jack, Gabriele, Scarlet, Lewis, Sylvie and Claire. She is also survived by her sisters: Bonnie (Alan) Bassett and Patty Jo (Graham) Murray, and niece and nephew: Kelsey (Jason) Jones and Kent (Amanda) Bassett.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park Avenue. Wyoming, on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 2:30 PM. Family would like to invite all to attend a time for fellowship and celebration with coffee and dessert at MKD Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Avenue, Kentwood (just 3 miles from the cemetery).
Nancy’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, as she continues to inspire through her enduring love and beautiful memories she has left behind.
