Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
It is with deep sorrow and unwavering faith in God's promises that we announce the passing of Nancy Elizabeth Huizinga who entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2026, at the age of 88.
Nancy was born on April 10, 1938, in Rochester, New York, to Cornelius and Jesse VanKalsbeek. Her family moved to Southern California when she was three years old and in her later teen years met the love of her life, Richard, a handsome Navy man, at the Rose Bowl Parade.
Throughout life, she was known for a loving heart, strong faith, and commitment to family and friends. She enjoyed music and would often sing with her husband, Richard, while he played guitar. Nancy loved being creative by sewing, making birthday cakes for her grandchildren, painting and flower arranging. She had a very generous spirit, always willing to give to others. Nancy enjoyed camping with her family and traveling with her husband. In her early married life, she and her husband lived in Michigan and California and often drove across the country with their four children to visit family, creating many fond memories. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially bird watching and admiring the beauty of flowers.
She is survived by her children: Linda (Randy) Cnossen, Steve (Jill) Huizinga, and Laura (Mike) Zywiczynski; grandchildren: Jeff (Julie) Cnossen, Julie (Nate) Shipp, Jackie (Josh) Rhodes, Ryan (Maria) Ringeisen, Matthew Huizinga, Amanda (Jacob) McPhail, Amber (Codie) Fink, Sarah Zywiczynski, and Rachel (Travis) McNamara; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Richard Huizinga; daughter, Diana Joy Ringeisen; granddaughter, Nicole Ringeisen; and great-granddaughter, Ada Fink.
While we grieve this earthly loss, we rejoice in the assurance that she is now in the presence of the Lord, as promised in Scripture: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die." (John 11:25-26).
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Plainfield Christian Church, 7255 Pine Island Drive NE, Comstock Park, Michigan, with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating. Lunch will be provided following the service. Family and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunset Senior Communities (Rose Garden) or Faith Hospice.
