Muriel Tamminga

Muriel (Overbeek) Tamminga, of Hudsonville, was received into the arms of her Savior on September 4, 2024, at the age of 82, having suffered from Lewy Body Dementia. Muriel was a committed and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who supported her husband as a devoted and active pastor’s wife. Together they served five Christian Reformed congregations in Michigan and Florida. For many years she knitted hats, mittens, and baby blankets for Love Your Neighbor and prayer shawls for churches. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Edward Tamminga; her children, Mark and Beth Tamminga and their children, Justin, Mara and Mike Eckenrode; Ken and Shelley Tamminga and their children, Lucas and Meredith, Noah, Gena; Joyce and Mike Van Dinther and their children, Savannah and Ryan Beezhold (Cayde), Zachary and Kailyn, Nicholas; Marianne Tamminga and her children, Dethan and Eli; her brothers, Earl and Norma Overbeek, Paul and Melodie Overbeek; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marvin and Jeri Tamminga; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Anna Tamminga. Special thanks to the caregivers at American House Sandalwood and to Faith Hospice for their loving care over the past two years. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 6475 40th St. Hudsonville, 49426. Burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday, September 8 from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. An additional hour of visitation will be held at the church on Monday beginning at 10 am. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Rev. Edward and Muriel Tamminga Scholarship at Calvin Theological Seminary.
