Mrs.  Patricia Brennan

Pat Brennan, a former shipyard welder during World War II, a former editor of the LESCOA factory newsletter, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014 of complications from pneumonia. She was 89. Services for Pat will be 11 AM Thursday, March 6 at Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave., Wyoming, MI. There will be visitation one hour prior to the funeral. There also will be visitation Wednesday, March 5 from 6 to 8 PM. Pat, who was orphaned at 17, left her native Petoskey, MI, in 1942 to serve as a welder in the Tacoma, WA, U.S. Navy shipyards. During her wartime travels, she met Joe Brennan, born in Salida, CO, who was serving as a gunner on B-17 Flying Fortress bombers. They were married on Oct. 6, 1945, and stayed together in life until Joe passed on Feb. 26, 2013 - a marriage that lasted 68 years. Pat served as newsletter editor of auto parts maker LESCOA in Kentwood - a job she continued well into her 70s. She lived at her home in Kentwood for 29 years before moving to Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community in Cascade. Pat is survived by two children, Sheila McCormick, and Mike Brennan; six grand children, Scott (Jody), Jeff (Robin), Casey (Karen), and Joe Kyburz; Lillian Brennan and Colin Butler; plus six great grandchildren: Josh, Nate, Nick, Haley, Greta and Brennan Kyburz.
