Mrs.  Melvia DeVries

DEVRIES - Melvia (Lucille) DeVries aged 102 passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014, now resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord. Lucille was born in Plainfield Twp.on March 29, 1911. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John; her sisters, Lois, Sylvia, Marion and June; her granddaughters, Jacquelyn and Janis and great granddaughter, Jennifer. She leaves behind two children, Joyce A. Rogers and Sidney (Joe) & Connie DeVries; along with her grandchildren, Jill Rogers, Kirk DeVries, Michelle Erickson, Lisa Sargent, Michelle Covert and Jim Marks; 17 great grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara Hotchkiss. Lucille was an active member of Rockford Baptist Church for years, where she worked as a librarian. She also worked as a librarian at the Rockford Library.
