MOMBER- Mary Louise Momber, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Mary Lou was born on April 30, 1949 and lived a life of deep faith in God that began at her home at a very early age. Her mother died when she was 14 leaving her the oldest of 7 children. Mary Lou spent much of her time doing whatever she could to help her family. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1967 and Central Michigan University in 1971 then taught at Coopersville High School for 28 years. Mary Lou was best known for her service, hard work and generosity with service being her best form of worship. She worked in religious education programs during most of her adult life as well as House Keepers for the Lord and funeral lunches. Mary Lou enjoyed cooking, sewing, photography, computers and spending time with children. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She was a very kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was filled with many difficult challenges, the last of which was ovarian cancer. Preceding Mary Lou in death are her parents, Richard and Cecelia (Scheidel) Courtade; brothers, Lewis and Donald; sister and brother in law, Jean & James Velting, parents in law, Lester & Sophie Momber; sister in law, Deborah Schichtel and niece, Mary Kemperman. May Lou is survived by her husband of 44 years, Thomas; their children, Michelle Momber and Jeffrey (Katie) Momber; grandsons, Luke, Ryan and Logan; brother, Robert (Susan) Courtade; sisters, Christine (David) Mazurek, Annette (Greg) Walker, Kathleen (John) Witte; sisters in law, Carol Courtade, Marlene Fayette, & Janice (Lance) Chichester. Also surviving is her stepmother, Mary Ellen Courtade; step brothers and sisters, Mark (Victoria) Krupp, Jeanne (Richard) Heys, Roman (Kay) Krupp, Julie (Peter) Birkeland, Ruth (Marvin) Bradford, Katherine Brown, Jane (Peter) Kane; her mother in law, Mary Momber; brothers in law, Michael Momber, Rick (Jill) Momber, George Schichtel and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Assumption BVM Church, Belmont. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 19 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel. 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont and one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment will be in Assumption BVM Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Consolata Sisters at Belmont.
