Grissen- Mrs. Lillian V. Grissen aged 93 of Raybrook Manor was called home Saturday, October 31, 2015. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; brothers, Henry Velzen, Gerald Velzen and Bernard Valzen. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Ken (Marcia) Grissen, Donna (Doug) Sieplinga, Susan (Lloyd) Hewitt, Tia; grandchildren, Leanna (Steve) Thompson, Melanie (J.C.)Baker, Darrell Grissen, Kira (Harland) Holman, Jenna (Greig) Hess, Pujita Sieplinga, Anjali (Matt) Perrin, Jeff (Michelle) Hewitt, Jamie (Jeanne) Hewitt, Jenn (Nick) Johnson, Lucas (Sandy) Hewitt, Anna Hewitt, Tyler Hewitt; great grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon) Evans, Andrew (Marissa) Hill, Brittney, Hailey, Nicholas, Logan, Lauren, Ashleigh, Alan, Skylar, Dylan, Brendan, Karson, Annika, Greta, Luke, Cameryn, Miriam, Taylor, Devin, Vanessa, Alanah; great great-grandchildren; Brianna, Landon, Araya, Mia, Braxton; brother, Frank Velzen; sister-in-law, Jane Velzen; brother-in-law, John Grissen and many wonderful, caring friends. She served in God's kingdom as a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother; as a master teacher in elementary, high school, and college; as an author of many articles and books; as associate editor of the Banner; and as a full time volunteer at Grace Christian Reformed Church. She loved God above all; she cared deeply about each person in her life; and she loved words, thoughts, and ideas. She struggled mightily with depression and used her experience to minister to many. "No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." She sees now. A service of worship and praise in her memory will be held at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 100 Buckley St. SE at 4:00 p.m on Friday, November 13.
