Mrs. Lennie B. Wright of Wyoming, MI., passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her father, Ervin Miers; mother, Geneva Sallie; brothers James and William Sallie and her infant son, Michael Miller. Lennie is survived by her husband, Hal Wright; daughter, Gwendolyn Miller; grandchildren, Tiesha (Sean) Shankin, Candice and Daven Crump; Great Grandchildren, Tyane "TJ" Barnes, Trinity Crump and Tristyn Shankin; brothers, Henry (Kay) Sallie, Jessie (Gloria) Sallie, Claude (Bernice) Sallie, Clyde Sallie, Ernest (Rebecca) Sallie, Wesley (Ginger) Miers, Sam Miers, Larry Miers; Sisters, Mary Sallie, Marie (Frank) Walker, Hope Bennett, Louise Love, Lennie Lewis, Naomi Lyons, Arnie Smith-Alexander, Lula Steward; Mother-in-love, Rose Wright; Step-mother, Florence Miers, and a host of nieces and nephews. Lennie was born in Duck Hill, Mississippi on April 26, 1946. She eventually moved to Joliet, IL., where she graduated from Joliet Central High School and later completed her degree as a LPN. She accepted Christ in her life at a young age. She was an active member of Mt. Moriah MBC in Joliet, IL, under the leadership of the late Reverend James McNear. On November 12, 1983, she was inducted in Order of Eastern Stars Esther Chapter #9 of Chicago, Illinois. Lennie later settled in Grand Rapids, MI. Her family always appreciated her protective presence, great cooking and unwavering dedication. Her grandchildren affectionately called her "Nene." Lennie enjoyed gardening, fishing, assisting her husband with photography and spending time with her grandchildren. In 2001, she converted to Catholicism and became a devoted member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 101 Hall St. S.E. at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will occur one hour prior to mass at the same location. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
