Mrs.  Joyce Reames

REAMES- Joyce Louise Reames, age 79, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in the care of her loving family. Joyce was born August 22, 1935 to Maurice and Marian Martin. Joyce had one sibling, Beverly (Houck), whom she adored. She was raised in the city of Ionia. On December 10, 1965, Joyce married the love of her life, Roger Reames, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by a son, David Sorensen. Joyce is survived by her children, Doug Sorensen and Marcelle (Douglas) Smith. She is also survived by her four step-children, Larry (Jean) Reames, Marci (Peter) Carlberg, Bonnie Schubert, and Paul Reames; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she adored and enjoyed spending time with including a very special niece, Yvonne Louise Fox. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her husband, Roger. Joyce loved going to her Florida home in the winters and eventually moved there to enjoy the warmer weather. Joyce and Roger were avid golfers and also enjoyed dancing. As Joyce would say "We can cut a mean rug." Her personality and laughter would fill a room with joy and happiness. Joyce also treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to which she was also known as "Granny Grunt or GG." Finally, Joyce Louise or Granny Grunt was known for ending her conversations with, "It is never goodbye, it is Cha Cha for now." After saying this, she would show her "fish lips." Joyce was a very easy person to love. Her family and friends will always "Love her with a passion." Her family and friends will join together on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 2pm at Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery, 0-50 Lake Michigan Dr NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 to witness the burial followed by dinner at one of Joyce's favorite restaurants.
