Mr.  Robert Afman

AFMAN, ROBERT Mr. Robert W. Afman, aged 81, of Byron Center, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen in 2009; parents, Jelte and Marietta Afman; sister, Joyce James; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford and Esther Erb. Surviving are his children, Robert, Cindy, Bonnie; sister, Dara Warner; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Richard) Grigas, Cindy (Dr. John) Bailey; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bob retired early from Steelcase after 11 years of service. Overcoming his blindness, he found his purpose in making toys for children. He will also be remembered for his love for his wife, Karen, and his church family. Despite his blindness, Bob was very musical; playing both organ and guitar. He knew many hymns and would play and sing them daily. He volunteered his musical talents often at retirement homes, bringing along his keyboard. Bob loved the Lord Jesus and is now in heaven, where he can see perfectly. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Byron Center Bible Church, 8855 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 PM at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave. Wyoming and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Interment Winchester Cemetery.
