Mr.  James Thurston

THURSTON- James P. Thurston, age 76 passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. James was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mae Thurston; his sister Joanne Becker; and nephew, Christopher Thurston. He is survived by his children, Donna (Russell) MacPherson, Diana (Chris) Schroeder, Debra (Michael) Hickey, Dawn (Stanley) Shank and James Whitlock; grandchildren, Angus & Kiera MacPherson, Shannon Hickey, Zachary, Alicia, Stanley IV & Matthew Shank, Charles & Nicholas Whitlock; his brother, Peter Thurston; his former wife and friend, Judy (Dave) Hankinson and nephew and niece, Steven (Janel) Thurston and Jenny Thurston. James proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired after many years of service with the U.S. Department of Labor. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Chapel, 3000 Monroe NW, Grand Rapids.
