Mr.  Henry VandenBroek

VANDEN BROEK - Mr. Henry VandenBroek, aged 91 of Grand Rapids, passed into the arms of his Lord on August 17, 2014. He was born June 23, 1923 in Zeist, The Netherlands and immigrated to the U.S. in 1948. He met and married Jacoba (Coby) in 1952, who preceded him in death in 2012. He was a long-time member of Faith Reformed Church in Wyoming, MI. He served on various civic and community positions in the Wyoming area. His favorite pastimes were spending summers at Sandy Pinesand acting in Community Theater over the years in Holland, MI, Muskegon and Grand Rapids Civic Theater. He and Coby were fortunate to have made several return visits to the Netherlands to visit family. As a young man, Henry was part of the Dutch underground resistance during WWII. He is survived by his children, Carol (Joe) Cole, John (Tammie) VandenBroek and Linda (Tim) Herron, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His love of his family, church, music, story-telling and a sound grasp of history will always be remembered. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Faith Reformed Church, 618 32nd St. SW, Wyoming. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9 to 11 am at church prior to the service.
