Mr.  ald Kreslins

KRESLINS-Evald Ev) Kreslins of Comstock Park, passed away Tuesday,April 15, 2014. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 32 years, Kathy; his brothers, Imants (Diane) Kreslins and Rick Kreslins; his sisters, Marija (Ulie) Felkers and Anna (Tom) Mead; his in laws, Sheila (Tim) Weibel, Denis (Sher) Sakoski, Gerard (Denise) Sakoski and Larry (Dana) Sakoski and many nieces and nephews. Ev is a 1958 graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central, he later attended and graduated in 1963 from Michigan State University with a BA and from the University of of Texas with an Architecture Degree. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 14 years while, serving he flew over 100 missions over Vietnam and was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery. Ev retired after 20 years as an Architect, during his career he helped design the Austin Bergstrom Airport, several buildings at the University of Texas and various other hospitals and schools including his current home. Funeral services will be held 11:45 am on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans Chapel, 3000 Monroe with visitation one hour prior to the service. His family will greet relatives and friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont. Memorial contributions may be made in Ev's name to Grand Rapids Home for Veterans for "Activities" on 2 Blue and 2 Red.
