Michael Tibbets

Michael William Tibbets, 76, of Wyoming, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2026 following medical complications. He told his family of the angels he saw all around in his final days. 

Mike’s passion in life was serving as a firefighter. He faithfully served his community with great dedication, spending 33 years with the Grand Rapids Fire Department and 37 years with the City of Wyoming. He was selfless and hardworking, always striving to provide for and care for his family.

Mike had a great love for food and was well known for happily finishing anyone’s meal with a smile. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with those he loved. His dogs, especially his beloved Bouviers, held a special place in his heart and often joined Mike and Marjean on their many drives together.

For more than 36 years, Mike cherished spending winters in St. Augustine and looked forward to summers at Pickerel Lake. He enjoyed road trips, attending “Sawyer Brown” and “38 Special” country concerts, and making lasting memories with family and friends wherever he went.

Mike will be dearly missed by his best friend and loving wife of 53 years, Marjean (Mikula); children and grandchildren, Holly and Jeremy Doyle (Austin and Kelli Hall, Kayla and Jake VanderMolen, Alec Hall and Allyson Chambers, and Aydin Doyle), Ryan and Jayne (Apol) Tibbets, (Jake, Darcie, Natalie and Andy), and Ross and Sarah (Knittel) Tibbets (Alysa, Camryn, and Nicole); and great-grandchildren, Jace and Reef VanderMolen, Kota and Noah Hall. Mike will also be dearly missed by his dog, Abby Rose. 

A memorial service will be held at Noon on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Grand Rapids Firefighter’s Hall, 1930 Fuller Ave. NE, 49505 with Pastor John Nauta officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family 10 am - noon at the hall prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Neighbors United (walkforthered.org).
