Michael Thomas Ver Strate

Michael Ver Strate, age 71, of Belmont passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic. Afterwards, he worked as a factory worker at Federal Mogul for over 30 years until his retirement. Michael loved the outdoors and spent much of his time quadding and fishing. He also had his private pilot’s license and loved to fly. Even after his health issues kept him from flying in real life, he spent many hours on his favorite game, Flight Simulator. Above all else, Michael loved his family more than anything in the world and always focused on spending time with them whenever he could. Michael will be fondly remembered for his fish dinners that he would provide, his great and unique sense of humor, and love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Ver Strate and Joyce Patterson-Pellerito; and his stepfather, John Pellerito. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Melissa Ver Strate, Maria Sweeney, Jenni Ver Strate, Timothy (Natasha) Ver Strate, Beth Ver Strate, Becca Levy; grandchildren, Ethan (Hannah), Jordan S., Luke, Emma, Jake, Tristan, Adrian, Freya, Aria, Jordan T., Aleia; great grandchildren, Amara, Cain, Milo; siblings; Gary Ver Strate, Harold “Butch” (Cheryl) Ver Strate, Debby (Arnold) Snyder, Carolyn (Greg) Kirves, Robin (John) Adema, Jonni (Jeff) VandenBerg, Laura (Matt) Ferguson; step-sister Emma (Chuck) Kinney; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
