Michael Swiech

Michael J. Swiech Sr, age 85, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After that he worked for the Grand Rapids Press for over 40 years. He loved staying active both mentally and physically by playing chess and running. Michael above all was passionate about his faith. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was an incredible example of Christ's love to others. He also gave much of his time to the Lord by serving as a church elder and deacon at Jenison Bible Church for many years. He was preceded in death by parents, Edith (Frank) Swiech and Vincent Macklin; and sister-in-law, Karen Swiech. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor; children, Michael Jr. and Lea Swiech, Melody and Jeremy Penner, Tami and Ron James; grandchildren: Chandra (Spencer) Pepper, Austin (McKinley) Swiech, and Brady Swiech, Byron (Catalina) Penner, Jaydon (Ashlynn) Penner, and Karsten Penner, Bethany James, Naomi James, and Cameron James; two great-grandchildren on the way; brothers, Robert (Helene) Swiech, Frank (Jan) Swiech; sisters, Pat (Lee) Elenbaas, Holly (Brian) Viening; and several nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, at Jenison Bible Church, 6360 14th Ave. Hudsonville, with Pastor Rich McCarrell and Pastor Steven Washburn officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Saturday, November 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Jenison Bible Church Mission Fund.
