Michael Jay Mellema, age 64, of Jenison, was peacefully led to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.  He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Mellema; and nephew, J.J. Mellema.  He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother, Lucille Mellema; brothers and sisters, Jim and Luanne Mellema, Jan and Pete Van Strien, Linda and Dave Eastway, Rick and Joanne Mellema, Jack and Jackie Mellema, Roger and Sue Mellema, Marsha and Tim Brookens; and many nieces, nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.  Mike’s peace, contentment and love for his Lord and Savior was a shining example for all who knew and loved him. Mike was a proud employee of the Jenison Meijer where he retired after 17 years of working in the bottle return department. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am  Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Lee Street Christian Reformed Church,1261 Lee St. SW, Wyoming with Rev. Kent Rottman officiating.  Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW and 10-11 am Saturday at the church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to a memorial of one’s choice.
