Michael James Kowal

Michael (Mike) James Kowal, age 68, was born on March 24, 1956, and passed on January 11, 2025, with his sister by his side. Mike grew up in Wyoming, MI with his parents Bernard and Alice Kowal along with his four brothers Bernard, Greg, David, and Mark, and his sister Mary. He graduated from Rogers High School. After high school, he worked at General Motors for 28 years. Mike was most proud of helping his mom after his dad passed away at the early age of 50 years old. He enjoyed watching baseball and football games and riding his Harley. His most memorable moment was riding his bike out west as a young man. He shared that nothing was more satisfying than riding in the open air while enjoying the majestic countryside. He especially enjoyed spending time with his brother, Greg, after retirement. Life experiences, such as losing his father at an early age, a motorcycle accident, and being a cancer survivor, had a profound effect on his life. Mike was a force of nature who was very generous with those he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Alice Kowal (Mursch); his eldest brother Bernard Kowal Jr.  Mike will be lovingly missed by his sister, Mary (Rob) Conner; and his brothers Greg, David, and Mark Kowal; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and special thanks to all the caregivers, including Faith Hospice of Trillium Woods, for the excellent care they provided for Mike. Mike, your long journey is over. Your life mattered. We love you. Rest in peace in the arms of the lord. You may honor Mike’s memory by contributing to your favorite charity or cause. The family requests that you spend time with the ones you love as life is precious. According to Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.
