Michael Cherrette

CHERRETTE - Michael Grant Cherrette, age 64 of Rockford, MI was reunited in Heaven with his parents, Omer and Margaret Cherrette on May 30, 2012. Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda; his sons, Mark, Thomas and John; brother, James and Dorothy Cherrette and sister, Michelle and Rick MacDonald. Mike taught at St. Alphonsus Catholic School as well as serving as the head of religion department at West Catholic High School in his 39 year teaching career. Mike coached varsity softball and golf for West Catholic and was inducted into the Michigan Golf Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007. He retired in 2009 and enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Mike was inducted into West Catholic High School Hall of Fame in 2011. Friends and relatives are welcome to meet for a visitation service at Stegenga Funeral Home, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont, MI on Friday, June 1st from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2nd at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 6390 Belmont Ave, with Fr. Peter Vu as celebrant.
