Mel worked for me (Communities First Association) for a few years. His laugh was infections, his sincerity unquestionable, his love of games (and pursuit if them) over the top! He was blessing to me and the association members!

Mel was the first person who approached me (Bill) when I moved to Holland and started 5th grade at West Side Christian School. We became great friends. We also attended Calvin College together, and had great adventures going to Calvin basketball ball games! My wife and I also have great memories playing Trivia with Mel & Pat! We even took a cruise together!

Mel was such a statement to loving life and music! My favorite memory of him was when he marched down Pennsylvania Ave playing the base drum with the HCHS band for Richard Nixon’s inauguration He will be missed by all
