Melissa "Missy" Misner

MISNER – Melissa “Missy” Mae Misner, age 40, found peace September 7, 2020.  Missy lived a life that was one of struggle with addiction and mental illness.  She was valiant in her battle fighting many things most of us never knew.  Missy lived with exuberance and loved hard.  Her three children were her joy, yet her struggles created space between them that she often with great intensity regretted.  She had a village of friends and lit up any space she walked into. Her unique laughter was infectious and drew in everyone privileged to be in her presence.  She had a gentle sweetness about her that will forever be missed by those who have her imprint on their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benard Misner.  Melissa is survived by children, Katelyn Bartholomew, Clystia Hicks, and Russel Hicks; mother, Ginger Misner; siblings, Mary (Jesse) Foster, Scott (Susie) Misner, Rebecca Misner, Marcie (Scott) Duncan, Beth (Bob) Mazur, Matt (Kelly) Misner, Elizabeth Elhart, Paul (John) Hammond; several nieces and nephews.  Melissa’s family will greet relatives and friends 3:00 to 5:00 PM Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont.  Visitation will take place both within the funeral chapel as well as outside.  A private family memorial service will follow the visitation.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made for Missy’s children’s ongoing expenses.  Checks may be made payable to Stegenga Funeral Chapel.
