Maxine Terpstra

December 2, 1921 ~
December 17, 2020

Maxine Augusta Terpstra, age 99, walked up the pathway to her Heavenly Father’s arms on Thursday, December 17, 2020. Surrounded by her family in her home in Bradenton, Florida, she joined her husband of 75 years, Gerald, in Heaven to start a new beginning. Maxine was born to Vern and Mid Carr in Moline, Michigan, on December 2, 1921. She lived all her young life in Moline, marrying Gerald, the love of her life, in her childhood home. Maxine and Gerald owned and operated the town market for several years before moving to the Grand Rapids area. She was the loving and full-time mom to Barbara Rickett, Richard (Christine) Terpstra, James (Janet) Terpstra, and Loretta Terpstra. She was also a loving “mama” to many others throughout her long life. She cared deeply for her family and others. Maxine is survived by her four children; her grandchildren, Brian (Diana) Bishop, Luke (Jessica) Terpstra, Jessica (Daren) Rehfeld, Marcy (Matt) Kuhns, Cheri Searer, Mark (Kendra) Terpstra and Kyle (Kim) Terpstra; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; and her son-in-law, Ken Rickett. We will miss you every day, Mom, but you will live on in our hearts forever. Maxine was actively involved with the local Bible Club Ministries for 50 years and she and Gerald were active members of Wyoming Park Baptist Church for many, many years. In their 75 years of marriage, Maxine and Gerald were blessed to make many travels together. A private graveside service for Maxine was held at Grandville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and because of Maxine’s love of trees, the family requests you plant a tree through arborday.org in her memory.
