Maxine Foster

The kingdom of heaven welcomed home Maxine (Vance) Foster, age 85, of Greenville, Michigan, who passed away at home, under the loving care of her daughter, Rita Morgan, on Friday, October 2, 2020. Maxine was born to Archie and Haner Vance in Rural Hackleburg, Alabama. She was the widow of the late Paul L Foster. Also preceding her in death were her parents; siblings, Rachel Baughn, Lillian Sullivan, Icye Diamond, and Regina Pearl Vance; and her children, Paula Jane Garter, and Suzie Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Rita (Joseph) Morgan of Greenville; her son, Steven Foster of Greenville; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Jack (Sue) Vance of North Carolina. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Flowers, cards and wishes can be sent to her daughter, Rita Morgan.

I am sad that I did not get to come visit Michigan this year and see family, but I am glad that I got to talk to Grandma not too long ago. She called me and let me know she missed my post cards and we talked about a little bit of everything... even her brother Jack. She had said that Uncle Steven told her to call the family and let them know about the fluid build up around her heart. She knew her days were not to be much longer and told me not to be sad; that she was ready. She was really positive. We laughed about many things and caught up on family. Little did I know that would be our last conversation. I love you Grandma! Thank you for wondering how I was doing, asking about our family, and reading every post card I sent...even when you had a hard time with my small script. Thank you for the writing me letters every now and then, for windmill cookies and babysitting us after school when we lived next door in Jenison. I will miss you!
