Remembering Max Lloyd Stevenson, Sr.

Max Lloyd Stevenson Sr., aged 88, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully on October, 19 2025. Max was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a humble man who lived a simple and meaningful life. Max proudly served his country, first in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later in the U.S. Navy. He cherished time spent with his family and found joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, with Euchre being one of his favorites. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Connie VanHouten, Max Jr. and Kristine Stevenson; grandchildren: Aaron (Sarah) VanHouten, A.J. VanHouten, Zach VanHouten, Luke (Tiffany) VanHouten, Sabrina (Jeremy) Jones, Max III (Bridget) Stevenson; great-grandchildren: Shelby, Easton, Morgan, Mason, Lawson, Taylor; many nieces and nephews; close family friend, Tom Tolan; and his neighbors, Rog and Sandy Velthouse, and Randy and Laurie DeMann. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; granddaughter, Angela VanHouten. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St., Caledonia.  Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may visit the family Thursday, October 23 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the GR Home for Veterans. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Faith Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
