Remembering Maurice W. Hoover

Maurice W. Hoover Maurice W. Hoover, aged 89 of Hastings, formerly of Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera (Upham) Hoover. He will be dearly missed by his sister, Joyce and Duane Snavely; 3 nieces, Elaine and Dan Wells, Cheryl and Tim Allen, Waneita (Upham) Croad; 2 grand-nieces, Elizabeth and Darrel Dubois, Katherine and Andrew Haff; other grand-nieces and grand-nephews; special friends, Jim and Kathy Stover. Funeral services will be held 2pm Saturday at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo SE, Kentwood with Pastor Doug Reichenbach officiating. Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens. A time of visitation with his family will be Saturday 1-2pm prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to Heifer Project International or Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

Morrie was a true gentlemen from the "old" days and that is meant as a compliment. I did not have an opportunity to get to know him like Jim Stover did but, because of Jim, I got to know him the last 2 years and I was impressed. Jim took care of him and made sure he had a good home, I have to appreciate that and realize what a true friend he had with Jim. Morrie, you will truly be missed! Gary Haug

I met Morrie 65 years ago at the age of 12. He had just gotten married and moved into the second story of my parents home. He had such great stories to tell and became a part of my family. He was always cheerful. We would like to send our condolences to Duane, Juanita, Joyce and the entire family. Sandra and Robert Doring
