Maurice Gabrielse

Maurice “Morrie” Gabrielse, age 80, of Hudsonville, was called home to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, December 18, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Harlene; son-in-law, Mark Eytcheson; brother and sister-in-law, Steve (Sylvia); and brother-in-law, John Navis. Morrie was in the food business for over 60 years. For the first 30 years, he worked for two major food companies both Sysco and GFS. For the last 30 years, he ran his own business, selling it just six years ago, but still working every day. Morrie touched many lives by his generous way of life. Maurice will be greatly missed by his wife, Marilyn; children, Sheryl Eytcheson, Tim (Thea) Gabrielse, and Todd (Barbara) Gabrielse; grandchildren, Dan Eytcheson, Sara (Francisco) Alvarado, Josh (Andrea) Gabrielse, Jordan (Justin) Knot, Rachel (Payton) Ponstein, Andrea (Jeff) De Graaf, Carolyn Scott, Tyler (Ashley) Gabrielse; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Navis; stepchildren, Carol (Joel) Dekker, Lorie (Dan) Jonkman, Robert and Celeste Stob. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Messiah Christian Reformed Church, 2900 Springdale, Hudsonville, with Pastor Nate Meldrim officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Sara and Francisco’s work in Honduras with ElmTree Ministries (checks should be made payable to Sara Eytcheson or to Messiah CRC-designate memorial for Morrie Gabrielse).
