Maryellen Westveer

WESTVEER - Maryellen Westveer went to her eternal home in Heaven, Saturday, September 22, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Westveer; son, Dan Westveer. She is survived by her children, Colleen (Steve) Elkins, Jane (Mike) Patterson, Amy (John) Darling; grandchildren, Marie (Mike) Ryan, Patrick (Staci) Elkins, Michael (Ellen) Elkins, Michael (Jenny) Patterson, Maggie Patterson, Haley Patterson, Will Darling, Claire Darling, Jack Darling; great grandchildren, Nate, Alana, Erin, Whilamina; sisters-in-law, Terese Shuttock, Ann (Dave) Browning; brothers and sisters, Bob (Trudy) Kelly, Elaine Wood, Pat (Adelynne) Kelly, Dave (Mary) Kelly, Sally (Buck) Peters, Kathleen (Don) Johnson, Tim (Marie) Kelly. Maryellen was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parnell and sang in the choir for many years. Prior to marrying Jim, Maryellen worked as a dental assistant. She was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was known to be very proud of her Irish heritage. She always looked on the bright side of any situation, even in the face of adversity. She persevered with optimism and humor. Beginning after high school, mom faithfully met with a group of classmates, "the girls" on a monthly basis for the last 64 years and counting. They were a wonderful support to each other through life's ups and downs. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:15 AM Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4351 Parnell Ave. NE, Ada. The family will greet relatives and friends 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday September 27 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE with prayers of the rosary recited at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice in memory of Maryellen.
