Mary Van Der Wiele

Mary (Morren) Van Der Wiele, age 95, of Jenison, was welcomed into the arms of her faithful Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Mary was born on October 25, 1930, to Henry and Henrietta Morren. She was married to Sam Van Der Wiele on August 21, 1952, with whom she shared 70 wonderful years of marriage.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend whose gentle spirit and steadfast faith touched the lives of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; and daughter, Louann (Van Der Wiele) Martin.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children, John (Laurel) Van Der Wiele, David (Ruth) Van Der Wiele, and Robert (Kimberly) Van Der Wiele; son-in-law, Jim Martin; siblings, Wilma (Cornelius) Bykerk, Don (Lois) Morren, and Norma (Harry) Vriend; grandchildren, Rachel (Mike) Goorhouse, Julie (Lamar) Brown, Heidi Martin, Andrew (Jenni) Martin, Adam (Aliesha) Baker, and Amanda (Blake) Vander Veen; and ten great-grandchildren who brought her much joy.

Before raising her family, Mary taught at Seymour Christian School, where she shared her love of learning and faith with young students. Later, she continued to nurture a love for music by teaching piano lessons from her home in Jenison for many years.

Mary was a longtime member of Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, where she faithfully served in many capacities and built lifelong friendships. Her quiet strength, kindness, and Christ-centered life were a blessing to all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Rev. Michael Ten Haken officiating. Burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, November 11, from 4-7 p.m. at MKD Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Wednesday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Ridgewood CRC.
