Mary Tuinsma

Mary Tuinsma, age 88, of Holland, MI, passed away December 1, 2025, surrounded by her daughters. She is now home with Jesus. She now has a clear mind and is free from pain.

Mary loved  the Lord, her family, music, camping, sweets, writing encouraging notes, walking, and hosting Christmas Eve parties for her family. She relied on her husband Jack for all the mechanical things, but she could play the Hallelujah Chorus on the organ!

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her brother, Bob Schelhaas; and her three sisters-in-law, Betty Bussies, Joan Kortering, and Connie DePond. She will be deeply missed by her children Lori and Rick Slenk, Jane and Mike Wilbraham, and Julie and Brad Dykstra; and her grandchildren: Erin and Rob Pollock, David and Yesh Slenk, Carlie and Daniel Barnett, Ryan and Caleigh Slenk, Brooks Wilbraham, Jamie Wilbraham and Brad Smith, Joshua Wilbraham and Liv Meyer, Daniel and Brooke Dykstra, Bethany and Jason Koole, Jennelle and Jake Beintema, Laura and Jacob VanderWall; 19 great-grandchildren; and siblings, John and Sue Schelhaas, Joy and David Koning, Jan Schelhaas, and Dave and Deb Schelhaas; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thank you to the Rose Garden community for the love and care they showed Mary for almost six years. We also thank Emmanuel Hospice for their care this last month.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Jamestown) 2371 Riley St., Hudsonville with Pastor Nate Meldrim officiating. Burial will take place at Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Rose Garden or Messiah CRC Youth Ministry.
