Remembering Mary Sue Rapson
Mary Sue (Hewer) Rapson, of Ada, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2019. Mary was born in Pickford, MI on September 10, 1942 to Frank and Thelma Hewer. After graduating from Pickford High School in 1960, Mary moved to Grand Rapids and attended Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained her degree in Registered Nursing. Mary worked as an Occupational Health Nurse, retiring from Wolverine World Wide, while sitting on the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses. Mary enjoyed traveling the world, spending time with her family and friends, and attending musical and theater productions. She will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Allison Rapson; grandchildren: Amanda (John) Kozar, Alexandria (Shawn) Carley, Isabelle Rapson (Nate Stahl), Robert James Rapson; great grandchildren, Bryce, Haylie, Jaxson; sisters-in-law: Geraldine Hewer and Connie Hewer. She is also survived by many members of her extended family; dear friends, Dale and Patti DeWitt, Cheryl Fitzsimmons, Linda Koert and several of her nursing, golf, and condo community friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Thelma Hewer; brothers, David and Roger Hewer. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 1, 2019 at Findlay Cemetery, 7182 2 Mile Rd, Ada, MI. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10052 60th St. SE, Alto, MI 49302. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Butterworth Nursing Alumni, (checks made payable to Spectrum Health Foundation), 100 Michigan St., Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
