Mary Soderberg

Mary Anne Soderberg passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the age of 95 at Trillium Woods. She died peacefully. Mary Anne was born July 20, 1924 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Albert and Anna Scheiern. As an only child she grew up believing in the importance of family and community. She dedicated her life to loving and supporting those lucky enough to call themselves her friends and relatives. She graduated from Mount Mercy Catholic High School in Grand Rapids and from Davenport College where she earned an Associate Degree in Bookkeeping. Throughout her life Mary Anne was inseparable from the love of her life Marshall Soderberg whom she married on March 2, 1946. She and Marshall were never blessed with children of their own, but she played an integral and loving part in our extended family. Mary Anne is remembered for her kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, patience, positive attitude, and knack for cards, especially bridge. She and Marshall were life members of the Elks Country Club where she was an avid golfer. They always looked forward to wintering in Port St. Lucie, Florida with close friends for golfing and cards. She was a devout member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Kentwood, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Soderberg. Mary Anne is survived by Philip and Nancy Grossman, Mathew and Kay Mata (Lincoln and Jade), Andrew Grossman, Deb and Mike Wendling, Farrah and Warren Foust (Cooper and Lyla), Nick and Nicole Norburg (Christopher and Griffin), Nick and Cindy Wittner, Robert and Karen Tugwell, Steven Soderberg (Michelle), many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Anne will be deeply missed by all who knew her and whose lives were made better by having her in them. A mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 11, 2020 at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 1253 52nd Street SE, Kentwood, MI 49508.
