Mary Louise Smith, age 94, of Jenison, was called to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus, on Saturday, September 4, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, with whom she had a “magical life”; parents, Ludwig and Bernice Patt; son, Terry; daughter, Diana Hanson; grandson, Brian Hanson; sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary (David) Gabourie; and sister-in-law, Dorcus Patt. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tom (Colleen) Smith, Toni (Tom) Guy; son-in-law, Roger Hanson; grandchildren, Jacob (Michelle) Smith, Jennifer (Matt) Zylstra, Chad Guy, Scott (Tara) Guy, Tammy (Chris) Krauss; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Patt. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as an Executive Administrative Assistant for many years before she retired. Mary was a warm, loving, and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her main priorities were church and family. She attended daily Mass and volunteered as sacristan, eucharistic minister, and was a member of the choir. She could always be counted on to help out wherever needed. She truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She would often travel with friends to Elderhostel locations, currently known as Road Scholar. The family would like to thank the staff of American House, Maplewood and Cherrywood, for the care and love shown to Mary. Special thanks to Faith Hospice for the care and support Mary received. Special recognition to Mary’s life-long friend, Marge Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at noon at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1630 Godfrey Ave. SW, Wyoming, with Fr. Stephen Dudek presiding.
