Remembering Mary Shippy

Mary Shippy, age 92, of Grand Rapids, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Edward “Dal” Shippy; children, Ron and Julie Shippy, Cynthia Hall and Brian Pitts, Randy and Karen Shippy, Richard and Penny Shippy; grandchild, Jared Langeland; several nieces and nephews; her special nieces Mary Morgan Greer and Nancy Morgan Klooster and “that rascal” Fred Morgan.  Mary was a light-hearted woman who loved her family and delighted in spending time with them. She would often take the children “downtown” to shop and take in a movie. No small feat considering she took four youngsters on the bus to shop. She was a fastidious housekeeper and loved to cook for her family and friends.  She will be long remembered for her love of camping, going to the beach with the kids, dancing and singing. She also had a deep affection for chocolate fudge. The family would like to express deep gratitude and appreciation to Pilgrim Manor staff for providing such loving care and making her part of their family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday 1 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Wyoming) 4031 Clyde Park SW. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pilgrim Manor.

Aunt Mary, the last in a great family (of their generation) of "Wright's ". With my Mom's recent passing, I've been reflecting back lately on many wonderful memories, when as kids we went to visit many of our family Aunt's and Uncle's, including Uncle Dale & Aunt Mary, who were always very kind and gracious to me while I was growing up. Also, we always looked forward to having lots of fun and getting into mischief with our many cousins. It's something mainly me, Bri and Gary would remember as Amy was either too young or not even born yet. May the good Lord comfort each and everyone of you during this time. God Bless, Bob & Tally Green Smithville Tennessee
