Mary (Peck) VanNest, age 95, of Walker, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 7, 2016. She is at rest, joining her husband, Victor; daughter, Karen; her parents; many siblings; family and friends; in the loving arms of Jesus. She leaves behind to celebrate her life, her children and grandchildren, Tim and Nancy VanNest (Tim and Sara VanNest, Tammy and Keith Torno, Becky and Mike Knoper), Phyllis and Jeff Kacos (Rachel and Paul Werner, Robin Kacos), Lori and David Helmholdt (David and Milissa Helmholdt, Chris Helmholdt and Cass), Karen’s children (Nichole and Chris White, Chad and Taylor Roosien, Kelly Roosien); son-in-law, Eric Jones; 21 great grandchildren; sister Doris Wedgwood (and her children, Randy and Pam Wedgwood, Vicky Wedgwood); sister-in-law, Carolyn Peck; her lifelong friend, Georgia Dreyer; many extended family members and friends. Her smile, sense of humor and the sparkle in her eyes will be greatly missed but remembered with great love and fondness. To honor Mary’s wishes, her family requests that in lieu of flowers, non-perishable food items be brought to the funeral home or church, to be donated to Mel Trotter Ministries in her name. Monetary donations can be made directly to Mel Trotter Ministries or New Life Baptist Fellowship. Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 am at New Life Baptist Fellowship, 6252 Burlingame SW, Byron Center, with Pastor C. Powers Payton officiating. Interment River Bend Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Saturday from 10-11 am at the church prior to the service.

Such a sweet lady. Will miss her on Mondays for pizza and on Fridays for lunch. She lived a fulfilling life.
