Mary Joyce Klawiter

Mary Joyce (Lowing) Klawiter, age 87, of Jenison, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 11, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jack; infant daughter; grandson, Justin; son-in-law, Tim Dys; and her brothers and their spouses, Otis (Grace), Hugh (Nancy), Boyd (Mary), and Wayne Lowing. She was a lifelong member of Grandville-Jenison Congregational Church where she served with her time and talents in many ways. Over the years, she was actively involved in the community, giving of her time at school, and also volunteering with the Jenison Historical Association. She treasured the time with her family, making great memories camping over the years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Craig (Mary) Klawiter, Glen Klawiter, Mark (Phyllis) Klawiter, Joan Dys, Sue (Bill) Hansen, Cathy (LaVron) Paul, Mary Klawiter; special nephews, Holden (Kathleen) Lowing, Steve (Jan) Lowing; 33 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lucille Lowing, Elmer (Marylou) Klawiter, Art  Klawiter, Joyce Vander Kolk, Ralph (Jean) Klawiter, Diane (Howard) Brower, Leo (Iva) Klawiter, Wally (Marsena) Klawiter, Judy (Milton) Swainston; and many nieces and nephews.  A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Friday, September 16 at 11 AM at Grandville-Jenison Congregational Church, 3900 Henry Street SW, Grandville, with Pastor Peter Kooreman officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grandville-Jenison Congregational Church or to the Jenison Historical Association.
