Vander Band, Marvin Sr. Marvin J. “Mike” Vander Band, Sr., age 86, of Fremont, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 and is now fishing on the Sea of Crystal. He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa who treasured his family. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He retired from Veteran’s Cab Company with over 40 years of dedicated service. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Barb (Penning); children, Linda and Clare Klamer, Bev and John Vander Loo, Marvin Jr. “Butch” and Deb Vander Band, Kevin and Kim Vander Band; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Don and Lois Vander Band; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday 2 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Case Admiral officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 1-2 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice.
