December 23, 2022

Marvin E. Blouw, age 93, of Jenison, passed away on December 23, 2022, and will be spending his Christmas in heaven with his Lord and Savior. Marv was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who dearly loved and treasured the time he spent with his family. He was gifted with a servant’s heart that would always be there to help his family and friends. Blessed with a strong work ethic, he retired from Michigan Wheel after 43 years of dedicated and faithful service. Marv enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and gardening. Many great memories were made over the years up north at the cabin with his family. Following retirement, he and his wife Barb enjoyed wintering in Florida at Nettles Island where many friendships were made. Marv also discovered his love of wood carving later in life, making many detailed, beautiful creations. Above all, his love for the Lord and his example of faith was evident to all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 72 years, Barbara; children, Daniel Blouw, Steve and Marg Blouw, Sandra and Richard Gebhart, Randall and Peggy Blouw, Lori and Jim Docter; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Bart Frankena, Ron Terpstra. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Spectrum Health Hospice and Sunset Manor for the love and compassionate care given to Marv. A celebration of Marv’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 1 p.m. at South Grandville Christian Reformed Church, 4130 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, with Rev. John Witvliet officiating. The burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to South Grandville CRC Benevolent Fund. Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com

We were blessed to be Marv & Barb's neighbors for a number of years. I loved going out to talk with him whenever he was watering his flowers or smoking fish or jerky. He loved talking about his time at the cabin and his tenure at American Wheel. His sense of humor always got me laughing. I felt so sorry for him when he had to leave his home and go into Sunset, but in retrospect, I know it was God's hand knowing where he needed to be at that time in his life. As a fellow Christian, I can only imagine the beautiful Christmas he is experiencing this year. With love & respect, Marv Niezink
