Martha Miedema

Martha Miedema (Peterson), age 88, of Jenison, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Martha was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was blessed with the gift of conversation. She had a deep love for Jesus and shared this joy with everyone she would meet. Martha enjoyed music, especially gospel music. She used her talents singing in local choirs over the years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading and creating beautiful paintings. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Miedema; son-in-law, Jim Alkema; brother, Cecil Peterson; brother-in-law, Jerry Kamminga. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Curt Miedema, Cindy Alkema, Steve and Linda Miedema; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Kamminga, Nancy (Hank) Verkaik; sister-in-law, Pauline Peterson; several nieces and nephews. A celebration service of Martha’s life will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Don Van Slyke officiating. Burial Georgetown Township Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of American House - Sandalwood for the love and compassionate care given to Martha during her time there. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to American House - Jenison.
