Martha “Marty” Leffel

Marty Leffel age 90, of Kentwood, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 15, 2015 surrounded by family.  She is survived by the love of her life, “Wally” Leffel who shared many adventures with her over a happy 59 year union; their children, Susan (John) Williams, Nanette (Steve) Rickers; grandchildren, Torin (Ingalill) Williams, Hannah Rickers, Bryce Rickers; great grandchildren, Ylva Lee Williams, Arthur Alexander Williams. Martha “Marty” to her friends, graduated from Urbana, Ohio High School third in her class. For many years she headed up the Girls Scouts in Ohio. That same caring compassion was carried over in donating to the Michigan Humane Society and ASPCA. There is a special “adopted” family with 8 children that always had clothes for school, food for the table and presents for holidays due to her love and care. All those who met her became an instant friend to her.   An open house style celebration of life for Marty will take place Monday, July 20 from 6-8 pm at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 4150 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood.  Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Kent County Humane Society or John Knox Presbyterian Church.
