Martha D. Szudzik

Martha D. Szudzik, age 91, of Kentwood, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Raymond; parents, Oscar and Olive LeVan; sisters, Marjorie and Mary; brother, Delorin. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Christine (Steven) Horlings, Sheila Holzwarth; grandchildren, Dean Holzwarth, Scott (Somer “Rochelle”) Holzwarth, Brian (Lindsay) Horlings; step-daughters, Rae Marie Szudzik, Jill Warner, Shelly (Curtis) Boehmer; step grandchildren, Chad (Alina) Roe, Eric (Brianna) Roe, Lance Boehmer (Pat Mathes); great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Neil Southworth; sister-in-law, Dorothy LeVan; and many nieces and nephews. Martha was an avid golfer and quilter, and was a member of the North Star Quilt Guild of Cadillac. She worked as an accountant for 65 years and was President of the Women’s Accountant’s Association. She was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Stars and a Worthy Matron. Martha loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and looked forward to making Christmas cookies every holiday season. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, November 22 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Carlisle United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star Chp. 215, Rockford, or Faith Hospice.
